Hydrogen production

Hydrogen electrolysis is a way to make hydrogen gas using electricity and water.

Whether you are a private individual hydrogen enthusiast or an energy producer or even a metal foundry planning CO2-free, green steel production with hydrogen, Metener Service is your partner for hydrogen production integration.

Hydrogen electrolysis in brief

In simple terms: you take water (H₂O), run electricity through it, and the electricity splits the water into two gases:

Hydrogen

Oxygen

So very simply put: electricity is used to break water apart and collect the hydrogen.

Our production options

2–50 kW

Single-core

Based on Enapter’s AEM Electrolyzer EL 4 product, this is a modular and scalable device that is quick and easy to install. The electrolyzer creates green hydrogen starting from 2.4 kW but by combining several single-core electrolyzers, several more kWs can be achieved. These products require very low maintenance and have both liquid and air-cooled options based on use case requirements.

70–480 kW

Multi-core

Multi-core solution has a higher capacity output due to scalability through its modular design. The output from this product ranges from 70kW to 480kW which offers plenty of flexibility based on use case needs. This is a great product for on-site hydrogen production due to its high availability and redundancy while staying in line with your budget and hydrogen production requirements.

1-20 MW

MW option

Metener aims to be your partner in implementing megawatt-scale hydrogen production. The difference between multi-core and megawatt solution is that in the multi-core option you have multiple small hydrogen stacks vs on a megawatt scale you have one single, large electrolyzer stack that produces remarkable capacity.

Metener Service is currently implementing a 1MW alkaline stack-based solution together with Metener’s proven hydraulic compression product.
